8. Aims and objectives:
a) The Department aims to provide a broad multidisciplinary course in Zoology.
b) To train students in a wide range of science-based skills that provide the learning base for future careers in disciplines such as Apiculture, Agriculture, Aquaculture, Fisheries, Environmental management, Biochemistry, Pisciculture etc.
c) To produce graduates who can demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of the discipline. Execute strong theoretical and practical understanding generated from the specific graduate programme in the area of work so as to enable the learners to pursue academic or professional careers.
d) To create empathetically social concern and equity centred national development, and ability to act with an informed awareness of moral and ethical issues and commit to professional ethics and responsibility.
e) To understand the impact of the scientific solutions in societal and environmental contexts and demonstrate the knowledge and need for sustainable development.
f) To develop the working knowledge and applications of modern technology in education and scientific research.
g) To gain knowledge about research methodologies, effective communication, skills of problem-solving methods and ability to work in teams.

a) Remedial classes are given to weaker students.
b) Guest lectures are arranged to give lectures and seminars to expose the students to a variety of perspectives within the field of zoology.
c) Organize various activities like career guidance to encourage learning outside classroom as well as help them develop various skills for future employability.
d) Engage the students in community outreach or extension programs that enables the students to share their knowledge and develop passion for various skills related to the subject.
e) Field trips to wildlife habitats, zoos, aquariums or research facilities are organized to learn about their behaviours, adaptations and conservation status.
f) Encourage the students to undertake simple research projects which allows them to explore topics of interest within the field of zoology.
g) Library with n-List facility.

Opportunities:
a) In this area the biodiversity is very rich. So a research facility is required to develop for the basic research in the field.
b) Department gives platform to the students to show their potential and knowledge by conducting seminars, giving projects, social activities etc.
c) Confidence is built through seminars and group discussions and personality development through interactive sessions.
d) Nearby schools are an advantage to organize extension activities for students to venture out and share their knowledge and motivate youngsters.
e) Participation in various literary competitions, sports and other co curricular activities are encouraged by the department.
f) The department offers skill-based paper and therefore students can start small scale industries such as Poultries, Vermiculture , Apiculture, Fisheries, Aquaculture and Pisciculture.
g) Students are motivated and guided by able faculty member to get higher degree and appear various competitive exams.

1.The department celebrated its silver jubilee on 27th November November 2019 under the theme, “Sociologically Imagining Beyond the Boundaries” with Shri Mmhonlumi Kikon, MLA and Advisor Information Technology and Communications Science and Technology NRE Nagaland.
2. Today’s workshop “Techniques of Ethnographic Film Making’ conducted on 13th to 14 April 2021 in collaboration with Dreams Unlimited at the college auditorium.
3. Conduct national webinar on “Intellectual Property Rights For Academic Visibility” in collaboration with Cell for IPR Promotion and Management (CIPAM) Ministry of Commerce and Industries. Government of India.
4. Organise two days workshop on “Understanding Camera and Editing Tools for Videography” on 5 th and 6th April 2022.

a) The department of Political Science celebrated 25th Years (Silver Jubilee) under the theme ‘Transiting the Legacy of Excellence’ on 18th March, 2019.
b) Ms. Liah Yeptho (MA 2nd Semester), Mr. Kepozo Kapuh (BA 4th Semester) and Ms. Keneisetsonuo Chatsu (BA 6th Semester) won 1st, 2nd and 3rd place respectively in the Inter-collegiate Debate Competition conducted on the topic: “Electoral Literacy Day” organised by office of the Deputy Commission and District Election Commission held on 10th October, 2023.
c) Ms. Leah Y. Yeptho of MA 2nd Semester was adjudged as the first runners up of the State level declamation competition on the topic “My Vision for India 2047” organised by Nehru Kendra Yuva, Kohima on 22nd January 2024.
d) Mr. Kepozo Kapuh (BA 4th Semester) and Ms. Keneisetsonuo Chatsu (BA 6th Semester) participated and won 2nd and 3rd respectively in the speech competition at the state level National Youth Parliament Festival on March 20th, 2024.
e) Mr. Kepozo Kapuh (BA 4th Semester) and Ms. Keneisetsonuo Chatsu (BA 6th Semester) represented Nagaland State in the National Youth Parliament Festival at Parliament, New Delhi on 6th and 7th March, 2024.
