Men's Hostel

"Our utmost for the highest"

St. Joseph's College Men's Hostel, Jakhama with HED/HOST/REGD. NO. JAK-03, “A home away from home” is a hostel for the students of St. Joseph's College (Autonomous), Jakhama. It was established in the year 2001. It is situated in a green and clean environment which provides proper and conducive atmosphere for intellectual growth and all round development. This hostel is a place for those who are in search of quality education, depth of life, serious with intellectual pursuit, personal development and spiritual and leadership formation. The hostel is managed by the St. Joseph's College, Jakhama under the aegis of St. Joseph's society of Diocese of Kohima (Catholic Church), Nagaland with a motto, "Our utmost for the highest”.

Aims and Objectives

Application Forms and prospectus are available at the Office of the Director (Hostel) for new admission. The Application Form is to be duly filled by the Candidate or Parents/Guardians and submit it to the Director only after having taken admission in the college. Admission, if granted, is valid for the current scholastic year only. If admission is not taken on the date specified, then seat may be allotted to other application.

    Application Form is to be attached with the following documents:
  1. Xerox copy with Self Attested Admit Cards and Mark Sheets obtained in the last examination appeared.
  2. Three recent Passport size photos in colour.
  3. Xerox copy of College Admission receipt.
  4. A passport size photo of the guardian.
  5. A conduct certificate from the head of the Institution last attended.
  6. A medical certificate of the fitness and Blood Group from a recognized hospital.
  7. Letter of recommendation from the Parish Priest and Baptism Certificate (only for Catholics).

Accommodation Capacity

The hostel can accommodate a total of 250 students who are eligible to apply for Nagaland scholarship. Students are accommodated in dormitories and rooms of triple occupancy. The rooms and dormitories will be assigned by the Hostel Director or the Assistant Director. The hostel provides study halls and each student is given a table and a chair for study.

Terms And Conditions

  1. A student has to pay the Grand Total amount at the time of admission.
  2. The Admission Fee is non-refundable.
  3. Mess Fee is collected by 15th of every month. If one fails to clear up the mess fee on the given date a fine of Rs. 50/- is imposed.
  4. The caution deposit is refunded at the time of leaving the hostel after the completion of academic studies in the college.
  5. If a student is asked to leave the hostel for grave reasons of violating the hostel rules or one leaves the Hostel in between for grave reasons, the Caution Deposit will not be refunded.
  6. Money will be charged for dues/fees/breakages/damages, etc. caused by the candidate who leaves the hostel.
  7. The fee structure of the hostel is subject to revision from time to time.
  8. Possession or use of alcohol, drugs or any form of intoxicants is strictly forbidden

Ave Maria Hostel and Convent of Jesus and Mary (Women's Hostel)

"To Draw out the Best"

Ave Maria Hostel (Girls) is a well furnished College Campus hostel for girls with HED/HOST/REGD NO. JAK-71 registration and established in 2012. The hostel provides accommodation and facilities mainly to Science students of the college students (girls). However, depending on the availability of hostel seats, students both Post Graduates and Under Graduates of various departments (Arts, BBA, B.com) are also accommodated in the hostel. The hostel is situated in a clean and green environment which provides conducive atmosphere for intellectual, emotional and spiritual growth. The hostel belongs to the College, Diocese of Kohima but managed and looked after by the congregation of Religious of Jesus and Mary (RJM). Attached to Ave Maria Hostel, the RJM sisters reside in the Convent of Jesus and Mary and take care of the hostel.

Aims and Objectives

  1. The aim of Ave Maria hostel is to provide the students with:
  2. An atmosphere of serious study and intellectual growth.
  3. Character formation and Foster Personal, Emotional and Spiritual growth.
  4. Social integration and Religious Education/Instruction.
  5. Leadership skills training, all round development and formation of students in the spirit of St. Joseph, the patron of the College, who is a worthy guardian, model teacher and honest worker.
  6. Growth in the spirit of Christ-Centric and Marian Spirituality.

Carmel Study House

"Ever To the Highest"

Carmel Study House is a well established hostel for girls of St. Joseph's College, Jakhama. with HED/HOST/REGD. NO. JAK-44 registration and established in 1997. It is owned and managed by the Congregation of the Mother of Carmel (CMC) of Sanjoe Province, Dimapur. Carmel Study House provides hostel facilities to Undergraduate students of Arts, BBA, and B.Com. The hostel is situated in a clean and green environment which provides conducive atmosphere for intellectual, emotional and spiritual growth of the students.

Aims And Objectives

  1. To provide a friendly atmosphere where students receive good quality education.
  2. To cultivate in the students practice of piety, virtue, discipline and character formation.
  3. To provide religious and moral values and instructions and help student to be diligent their responsibilities.
  4. To provide integral growth, pursuit of academic and professional excellence.
  5. To empower the students to service society and nation through the redeeming light of the wisdom of God.

Carmel Study House has intake capacity of 140 students in rooms of five beds or less. The rooms are assigned to each student by the Warden or Assistant Warden. The hostel provides study hall and each student has a table and a chair for study.

SABS STUDY HOUSE/ADORATION GIRLS HOSTEL

St. Joseph's College Girls Hostel and SABS Study House are hostels for students of St. Joseph's College, Jakhama, with good infrastructures and facilities. St. Joseph's College Girls' Hostel was established in 1985 and is owned by the College, Diocese of Kohima. In 1993, the Sisters of Charity (SCCG) started a hostel for the girls but discontinued and in 1995, 24th April, the congregation of the Sisters of Adoration of Blessed Sacrament (SABS) took over the hostel and established SABS Study House. The SABS Study House is owned by the congregation of Sisters of Adoration of Blessed Sacrament. These two hostels are managed by the SABS sisters. These hostels provide hostel facilities to Undergraduate students of Arts, BBA, and B.Com. and few available seats for Post Graduate Students. These hostels are situated in a clean and green environment which provides conducive atmosphere for intellectual, emotional and spiritual growth of the students.

Aims and Objectives

  1. To provide the students with an atmosphere of serious study, character formation, religious instruction, social integration, and effective leadership training.
  2. To provide religious and moral values and instructions and help student to be diligent their responsibilities.
  3. To organize programmes which aim at integral and all round development of students in the spirit of St. Joseph, the patron of the college, who is a trustworthy guardian, model teacher and honest worker.

The dormitory/rooms are assigned to each student by the Warden. There are 23 rooms with 6 beds and 4 dormitories. There are three study halls and each student is given a table and a chair for study.
