 The St. Joseph’s College (Autonomous) Model United Nations Club (SJCMUN) was established in the year 2014. It is an educational simulation where students learn about diplomacy, international relations, and the United Nations. MUN participants role-play as diplomats representing a nation in a simulated session of an organ (committee) of the United Nations and try to find solutions to important global problems of the day. Participants will simulate UN bodies like the General Assembly, the Security Council, the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), World Health Organization (WHO) or any of the other United Nation bodies using Model United Nations Rules of Procedure.

The club provides hands-on Experience in Diplomacy, International Relations, Negotiation and Lobbying. Furthermore, it improves Public Speaking, Speech Writing, Debate Skills, Teamwork, Leadership and gets to Travel to New Places.

Objectives:

1.      To impart talented and curious young leaders to gain insight on global affairs, multi-lateral diplomacy, world economy, United Nations and peace building.

2.      Equip delegates with skills on public speaking, negotiating, policy analysis, conflict resolution, group communication, lobbying and leadership.

3.      To motivate dynamic young boys and girls in resolution writing and rules of

procedure.

 

Key Activities: Participation in MUN conferences, Orientations, Cleanliness drive etc.
