Year of Establishment: 2001

 

Aims and Objectives:

 

Ø  The main objective and aim of the women’s forum is to enlighten the women and affirm their dignity.

 

Ø  To educate women to maintain their health and hygiene.

 

Ø  To raise awareness about issues affecting women, such as domestic violence, gender-based discrimination, and reproductive health.

 

Ø  To foster their growth and development by providing different platforms like- beauty pageants, model hunt etc. for showcasing their talents.

 

Ø  To enhance their ability in different areas by providing vocational trainings, outreach programmes, organising seminars, essay writing competition etc.

 

 

·      ACTIVITIES AND ACHIEVEMENTS:

 

1. 19th August 2024: The election for the Women’s Forum office bearers and Jericho Movement Members SJC (A) was conducted at the College Indoor Stadium.

2. 30th September 2024: To provide students an opportunity to participate in a state-level competition, the Women’s Forum collaborated with 4FRONT EVENT MANAGEMENTS, KOHIMA, to host the In-Campus Audition for Miss Kohima 2024 at the College Indoor Stadium, held from 12:40 PM to 2:40 PM. Nine students (Josephites) participated in the audition and were selected for the upcoming Miss Kohima competition, showcasing the talent and confidence nurtured within the institution.

3. 27th January 2025: The Women's Forum of St. Joseph's College (Autonomous), Jakhama, organized a Sketching Competition under the theme "Empowering Girls for a Bright Future” to commemorate National Girl Child Day. Held in Arts Block

Hall no 21 during the last two periods i.e., from 12:50-2:00 PM. Ten students (Josephites) participated, each given 1.5 hours to complete their sketch.

 Winners:

·   1st : Kepokhoto Theyo, Dept. of English, 6th Semester, Section C

·   2nd : Meyiesii Sophie, Dept. of English, 6th Semester, Section D

·  3rd : Evlin Nag, Dept. of Education, 4th Semester, Section B

4. 8th March 2025: The Women’s Forum of St. Joseph's College (Autonomous), Jakhama, celebrated International Women’s Day by honoring the achievements of women and promoting empowerment. A video-making initiative featuring 8 students captured powerful reflection on women’s resilience and contributions.

To mark the occasion, the Forum distributed badges, pens, and bookmarks to all teaching and non-teaching staff, and badges to all female students, recognising the uniqueness and value of every woman in the college.
