Description of YUVA Tourism Club 2023 -2024

i)                   ABOUT THE CLUB: Yuva Tourism Club is a campaign launched under the initiative of Ministry of Tourism, Government of India with the strategic objective of creating interest, awareness and a sense of responsibility towards our country’s natural and cultural heritage/tourism amongst the youth. YUVA Tourism Club at St Joseph’s College (Autonomous), Jakhama was officially formed on 16^th of August 2023 with its official name as, YUVA Tourism Club, St. Joseph’s College (Autonomous), Jakhama.

ii)                 Aims & Objectives

The aims and objectives of YUVA Tourism Club, SJC (A), Jakhama, were also developed in conformity with the vision and objectives of the YUVA Tourism Club mentioned in the Draft Concept Paper of Ministry of Tourism, Dated 30^th December 2021.

Aims:

·         To nurture and develop young ambassadors of Indian Tourism who would become aware of tourism possibilities in India, appreciate our rich cultural heritage and develop an interest and passion for tourism.

·         Participation in Tourism Clubs also aims to facilitate development of soft skills like teamwork, management, leadership besides encouraging adoption of responsible tourism practices and concern for sustainable tourism.

Objectives:

·         To educate students about diverse cultures and geographies of the country

·         To appreciate the importance of travel and tourism in education

·         To create awareness about tourism opportunities at an early stage

·         To teach and propagate responsible tourism practices

·         To train students as skilled tourist guides and volunteers in hospitality sector

The key activities of the Club are aligned with the proposed activities mentioned in the UGC letter, titled; “National Tourism Youth Clubs” dated September, 2022, Ref No: D.O. No. 2-77/2022 (CPP-II). Some of the key activities conducted so far by the Club in the college are mentioned below;

·         Election of Student Executives

·         Orientation Program for new club members

·         Observation of World Tourism Day by conducting programs on 27^th September

·         Cleanliness drive in observation of Swachhta Pakhwada and Swachhta Hi Sewa Drive/Campaign - directive of the Ministry of Tourism 2023-2024.
